Deployment Containers/Support

  • Rio - Provides a dynamic architecture for developing, deploying and managing distributed applications. Rio provides:
    • Deployment & management capabilities for applications composed of Jini services
    • Service development approach allowing either the use of Jini Service Beans, POJOs and Spring
    • Fault detection and recovery
    • SLA Management
    • An open project, contributed by members in the community
    • Backed by subprojects including Rio Utilities, Rio Installers, Rio Substrates
  • Seven - The 'reference' implementation of the Jini Service Container Specification that eases the development and deployment of Jini services and provides features such as:
    • support for distributed events, leasing and participation in the two-phase commit protocol;
    • manage service registration with various lookup services;
    • controlling codebase annotation and serving download jar files, as well as versioning of services and downloadable code;
    • resource effeciency by employing various tactics to reduce the number of threads used by many of the Jini implementation classes;
    • much, much more, look at the Seven project for all features.
  • Harvester - A simple container developed for a business need.
  • JTSK - The com.sun.jini.start package contains a simple deployment system that is used for the JTSK services, but which can also be used for other services as well.
  • Newton - A distributed component framework focused on simple POJO components. Implements the SCA specification and provides OSGi and Jini bindings.
