Jini Community Meetings are great opportunities for us to share experiences and ideas, make connections, learn, make progress, and grow as a Community. The Sixth Jini Community Meeting was filled with technical, business/marketing, and general sessions over the course of three full days.
Program Agenda
Activities for the Sixth Jini Community Meeting were spread over four days. The content was diverse; without a doubt, there was something for everyone!
- Monday was mostly a travel day for most attendees. The Oversight Committee met and discussed business activities. All Community Members were invited to attend a reception held at the Omni Parker House.
- Tuesday was the real kick-off for meetings and discussions about Jini Technology. Many presentations were given by both Community Members and Sun's Jini Product Team spanning topics such as community activity, technical updates, project updates and marketing strategies.
- Wednesday was another busy day. There were lots of updates from well-know Jini projects such as Rio, SI and GigaSpaces, to name just a couple of oldies-but-goodies. Academic Community Members had some great presentation on topics such as teaching Jini Technology concepts to a range of audiences and distributed genetic algorithms.
- Thursday came quickly and we were all sad to say goodbye, but not before a final flurry of presentations. There were more great updates about Community Projects, activities in academia as well as by Community Members sharing information on Jini Technology applied to commercial products. Our closing discussions included the now famous "fishbowl discussion", with thoughts shared about the technology, our community and our future.
